Department of Refrigeration & Air conditioning and Energy

I. Goal

1.Cultivate students to become professional talents with proficiently practical and theoretical capability in refrigeration, air conditioning and energy technology.

  (1)Educate students the knowledge and skills relevant to   mathematical science, refrigeration, air conditioning & energy engineering and electro-mechanical engineering to equip students with the capability to deal with engineering problems   relevant to basic refrigeration, air conditioning and energy engineering.

 (2)Cultivate students with the capability dealing with the planning, design and construction supervision ove r refrigeration, air conditioning & energy systems.

(3)Enhance students with improved capability in literature expression

(2)Make students understand the industrial development trends and influence

II.Feature

1.The Departmental Focusing Effort in Academic Research:

R&D and Tests for Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Energy-saving Technology: It includes industrial or biotechnological environment control techniques, inverter energy-saving techniques, the development for interior environment monitoring systems,vegetation plantation, the design and construction for environment air quality, and the component design and development for air conditioning and energy-saving technologies.

2.Technical Integration for Renewable Energy and Air Conditioning   Systems: solar energy and fuel cell techniques, the combination  with solar energy, wind power generation and fuel cells to establish diversified power supply systems.

Department History:     

    For the past few years, with prosperous economic development in Taiwan, life quality of people is also improved continuously. However, Taiwan is located in a subtropical area with highly humid climate in summer. Therefore, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment is naturally highly demanded by business buildings, medical care buildings, department stores, traffic tools and supermarkets to establish comfortable work, sales and home-stay environment to improve life quality. Furthermore, because various industrial techniques in Taiwan have been highly improved, the humidity and purification for environment required by industrial processes are also severely requested, especially hi-technology like semiconductors and various precision machine productions. The refrigeration and air conditioning techniques are therefore requested to extremely high levels and the refrigeration and air-conditioning industries expand continuously.

For the past few years, due to the changes to economic structures in Taiwan, the development for refrigeration and air conditioning industries are actively thrived and the technique levels are also highly improved. In future, industries relevant to refrigeration and air conditioning are potentially promising

Since August 1st 2017, the division was promoted to the Department of Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning and Energy Engineering and Professor Chiun-Chin Tsai became the first chairmen of the department.
